Our Charity of Choice

FirstGroup is working with Action for Children to support the mental health of the UK’s most disadvantaged children.
Our three-year partnership is valued at over £1 million in cash, fundraising, and the commercial value of gifts in kind. Action for Children will benefit from advertising space across our UK transport network and funding for mental health projects, enabling the delivery of essential specialist support to young people who desperately need help.

From now until 2021, Action for Children will be the main beneficiary of FirstGroup’s corporate responsibility activities across our UK businesses; First Bus, Great Western Railway, Hull Trains, South Western Railway and TransPennine Express.

Payroll Giving donations now more important than ever

With so many people in need our charity partners are looking for support via Payroll Giving now more than ever. During these unprecedented times charities are even more reliant on regular donations from their supporters.

What are the benefits?

Not only is Payroll Giving super simple, but it's also tax effective. This is because your donation gets deducted before you pay HMRC. For example, if you donate £5, the cost to you in your take-home pay is £4 and HMRC pays the rest!

What if I change my mind?

Charities benefit from regular donations as it helps them plan and budget. If you set up a regular donation you can cancel your donation, change the amount or even which charities you would like to support, at any time.

Which charities can I support?

Donations can be made to any UK registered national/local charity or recognised good cause such as places of worship, schools and scout groups.

You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations - and you can easily change the amount or nominated charities at any time. If your chosen charity is not listed on this site you can still support them, just make sure to include their charity number so there is no delay in forwarding on your donation. Please contact us via the live-chat on the bottom left of your screen if you have any questions.
